Adding from Your Browser:
Use your Backflip It! button on your Netscape or Internet Explorer toolbar. It's the quickest way to save a page whenever you're surfing the Web. If you haven't added the Backflip It! button, here's how.

  1. When you find a page you wish to save, click the Backflip It! button on your toolbar.
  2. A form pops up. Click Backflip It! to submit it. You did it! Keep surfing!

Alternatively, you can select which folder to file it in. Also, feel free to change the Title and URL as well as add a Description. Then click Backflip It!

Uploading Bookmarks / Favorites:
Click Get Tools at the top of any Backflip screen. Then click the Add Favorites or Add Bookmarks tab, follow the on-screen instructions, and you'll have a useful, searchable repository of your favorite Web sites.

Using the Add Pages Pop-Up:

  1. URL: Type in the location of the Web page you want to backflip. Backflip allows you to enter anything you wish. Backflip does not prevent you from entering a location that is not currently available, since the location may only be temporarily down.
  2. Title: Enter something brief but descriptive for this page. This is helpful for two reasons: a) When you view your pages, you can quickly find what you have and b) you can search for this information later.
  3. Description: If you want to elaborate, here's a place to do it. Make notes of what you liked about the page, what you use it for, anything. This information is shown in the My Folders view. And it's searchable!
  4. Folder: Put your page in one of your folders to help you organize.

Where is my Toolbar?
The Toolbar is a location near the top of your browser window.

Netscape users: If your "Personal Toolbar" is not visible, click the View menu. Select "Show" and then "Personal Toolbar."

Internet Explorer users: If your "Links" Toolbar is not visible, select the View menu at the top of the browser. Then select "Toolbar", and make sure that "Links" has a checkmark next to it on the list. You should then see the "Links" toolbar.

If the "Links" selection is checked on the View/Toolbars menu, but the "Links" Toolbar still is not visible - look for the word "Links" on the address line of your browser toolbar, or click on the ">>" button to see if it is scrolled off the screen. If you find it here, drag the word "Links" below the address line to make it more prominent.

What do I do if my Netscape Toolbar or Internet Explorer Links bar looks 'full'?
No problem. You can still add your Backflip It! button.

Netscape Users:: In your browser, click the Bookmarks menu, then select "Edit Bookmarks." In this list find an item named "Personal Toolbar Folder". Under it is a list of links on your Toolbar with leftmost links from the browser shown at the top. To remove a link, highlight it then select Edit... Delete from the menu. To move links, drag and drop them between other links.

Internet Explorer Users: To remove links, hold your cursor over the link button, right click, then select "Delete" and confirm the pop up box. To move links, click the item on the Links bar and, without un-clicking, drag it to the desired position and release.

Can I upload Bookmarks / Favorites from multiple computers?
Yes! This is another benefit of using Backflip. For example, you can upload Bookmarks from your home computer in Netscape then upload Favorites from Internet Explorer from work. Now you have one place to keep this information.

What is 'backflipping' and when should I do it?
You're backflipping any time you add a page to Backflip. The easiest way is to use the Backflip It! button on your toolbar. If you haven't added the Backflip It! button, click here. You should backflip any page you find useful. That way you can quickly find in your Backflip directory or by using a simple search!

How do I edit a page (Title, Description, URL)?
Click the [Edit] link next to the listing of the page you wish to edit. You can do this in My Sites A-Z, My New Pages, or in a folder within My Folders. Make changes to the title, description and/or URL. Even change the folder location. Then save your changes.
