Tips

Here's a tip: You may want to print this page for future reference. Click the print icon above.

Add your Bookmarks or Favorites to Backflip
You've probably already saved Web pages in Bookmarks (Netscape) or Favorites (Internet Explorer). With Backflip it's easy to turn them into a searchable, organized set of information:

  1. At the top of Backflip, click Get Tools.
  2. Click the Add Bookmarks (Netscape) or Add Favorites (Internet Explorer) tab.
  3. Follow on-screen instructions, pressing Next as you go. (Along the way Netscape users must click Grant in the pop-up window).
  4. Sit back and relax. Your saved locations become pages in Backflip. Backflip will go out on the Web, create descriptions of the pages and gather information so that you can search for words or phrases contained on them!

Use the Backflip It! Button
First, place the Backflip It! button on your browser toolbar. If you didn't do so during registration, click here for more information. To use the button, follow the instructions below:

  1. Surf the Web and find a page you want to keep for future reference.
  2. Click the Backflip It! button in your browser toolbar.
  3. To quickly move on, just click Backflip It! in the pop-up window. Backflip will create a description of the page and file it into your "Everything Else" folder. That's it. You can use Backflip to find that page anytime, anywhere.
  4. If you wish, you can enter your own Title or Description. You can also manually file the page.

Find Your Past Discoveries
There are four ways to find your backflipped pages.

  1. View folder contents in My Folders.
  2. With My Sites A-Z, see Web pages grouped by the site they're part of.
  3. For pages you've recently added, try My New Pages.
  4. Save time and find it fast. Use Search My Backflip to find a word or phrase contained in page URLs, Titles, Descriptions and actual page contents!

Edit a Page
Make changes to, or delete, your pages. Change the Title, Description or URL. You can also place it in a different folder.

  1. In My Folders, My Sites A-Z, or My New Pages find the page you want to edit.
  2. After clicking the [Edit] link next to your page you want to edit, the Edit Page screen will appear.
  3. Change the Title (up to 25 characters) and Description (up to 200 characters).
  4. You can alter the URL, though we don't recommend it.
  5. Organize your page in a different folder by making a selection from the Folder menus.
  6. Click Save Changes.

Create Folders with the Tab
To organize your information you can create folders for logical groups of pages. The Create Folders tab is located near the top of your screen.

  1. Name: Call your folder something.
  2. Description: you will see this when you browse through My Folders.
  3. Place it here: This is where in My Folders you want to place this folder - either on your home page or within another folder. (It defaults to creating a new folder on your home page.)

Create Folders Just in Time
When you add a page using the Backflip It! button, you have the option of manually filing it into a folder. If you haven't already created an appropriate folder, you can do so right there.

  1. Click the Create Folder link at the bottom of the Backflip It! button pop-up screen.
  2. Follow the instructions above for the Create Folders tab.
  3. Click Add Folder.
  4. The new Folder will be shown under the Folder box on the Backflip It! pop-up and you may add the new page to this folder.
